Welcome
It was a great honor to be appointed Pastor of Our Lady of the Mountain in July of 2007. Already I have witnessed some of the great gifts here in this parish community. The greatest gift, of course, is the community. OLM has an incredible reputation for our hospitality and that has been my experience thus far. The people of the parish are extremely generous with their time and talent. Set in the hills of Ashland, I daily get to experience the marvelous works of God in looking out at the Rogue Valley. The view is breathtaking.
As Pastor of Our Lady of the Mountain I want to continue this tradition of hospitality in my ministry to God's people those who live here in the valley, as well as for the many visitors we receive who come here every weekend to enjoy all the many attractions of Southern Oregon. In Jean Corbon’s book, Wellspring of Worship, chapter 8, he sets forth what I hope will be the experience of all who come and worship with us here at OLM.
"When we approach the body of the Lord, the first source of amazement to us should be the fact that we have been drawn to him. It is the Father who has thus 'drawn' us (Jn 6:44) and, in our impoverished but loving faith, his passionate love for his beloved Son has to some extent become ours. As soon as we consent to enter into the cloud of faith he reveals Jesus to us as the only reality. 'Suddenly, when they looked around, they saw no one with them anymore but only Jesus' (Mk. 9:8); Jesus by himself is everything."
One thing is certain, what God has intended for us goes far beyond anything we can imagine!
Christ’s Peace to you all,
Fr. Sean Weeks, Pastor
